GOALS

  • to support the research, technical development and education of tribology in Finland
  • to improve the awareness and deployment of tribological know-how in finnish industry and society
  • to maintain and strenghten the international co-operation to foreign tribology societies.


    MAIN ACTIVITIES

    TRIBOLOGIA-Journal

  • TRIBOLOGIA - Finnish Journal of Tribology - is a member journal, which contains of articles written in English, finnish and Swedish. The Journal is published 4 times a year. The Editor of the journal is PhD Jyrki Tervo and the editorial assistant is Mrs Erja Mörsky.

  • The functionality of the www-pages is constantly improved.
  • The journal is now available in pdf-format for the members.

    International conferences

  • 1st Nordic Symposium on Tribology - NORDTRIB'84 - was organized on the 4.-8.6.1984 by the Finnish Society for Tribology in cooperation with Tampere Technical University.
  • 5th international tribology conference - EUROTRIB'89 - was organized on the 12.-15.6.1989 in Helsinki by the Finnish Society for Tribology in cooperation with the International Tribology Council (ITC).
  • 5th Nordic Symposium on Tribology - NORDTRIB'92 - was organized on the 8.-11.6.1992 in cooperation with Helsinki University of Technology.
  • 9th Nordic Symposium on Tribology - NORDTRIB 2000 - was organized on the 11.-14.6.2000 in cooperation with the Technical Research Institute of Finland (VTT).

    Seminars, theme days, excursions

  • Seminars or theme days are organized focusing on currant topics. In addition excursions to interesting industrial sites and partners can be participated.

    Reward recognition

  • The society awards yearly the best domestic research publication on tribology.

    International Cooperation

  • A member of the International Tribology Council (ITC).
